The Academy for Digital Entertainment of NHTV University for Applied Sciences in Breda (The Netherlands) offers bachelor programs in ‘Game Architecture & Design’ and ‘Media & Entertainment Management’. The Game Architecture & Design program has a 3D Programming, a 3D Art and an At & Technology for Next Generation Entertainment specialisation. The Media & Entertainment Management program has specialisations in Media & Entertainment Marketing and Media & Entertainment Production. A Master program in Media Innovation is being developed now.
All our programs scored first in the national ranking 2009, because of the vocational approach and the quality and experience of the staff. Working at NHTV is like working in the entertainment industry, but without the pressure of production deadlines. The staff of the academy is recruited from all over the world (e.g. US, UK, Australia, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands) and all courses are taught in English.
Job profile
You will contribute to the development of a research program within the field of design of serious games, as well as collecting external funds for research programs and doing research and publishing yourself within the knowledge domain. You will be consulting in the process of curriculum innovation for the Game Architecture and Design Program and contribute to course development and education in the Game Architecture and Design program (especially in courses Serious Games and Research Methodology). You will be consulting on the integration of education and research programs and providing guest lectures in within the Academy for Digital Entertainment management and other bachelor and master programs within NHTV. You will be contributing to the development of Master programs and monitoring of PhD programs of lecturers within the Academy for Digital Entertainment management. Apart from this you are a consultant for the industry and you coach both students and collegues in our research programs.
Salary & Benefits
NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences offers organisation and facilities for costs of relocation and settling-in in the Netherlands. Dutch Tax authorities may offer tax reduction to applicants from abroad. The salary for this position will be at level 14 of the CAO-HBO (Collective Labour Agreement), earning a minimum of € 4514.69 gross and a monthly maximum of € 5.755,01 gross (full-time, 40 hours a week). You will get a fixed annual benefit of 8,3%. Apart from this, NHTV University of Applied Sciences offers you an 8% holiday allowance, a compensation for your Health Insurance and several compensations for sports activities.
Candidate profile
You hold a PhD relevant to the field of research. Your knowledge and skills on the development of game applications using modern technology - such as augmented reality - is excellent. You can show us your experience designing serious games and meaningful play applications as well as new applications of game technology. You also have knowledge of the design of on-line virtual worlds. You have recent (international) research experience in the field of serious games and can show publications in magazines with an (international) reputation within the knowledge domain. You can give us a clear vision on strategy for an institution that wants to transform from an educational focus into a knowledge center in it’s domain. You have the ability to manage knowledge processes and research groups and a track record in finding funding for research programs.
