AAEEBL, de nieuwe professional association for the World ePortfolio community maakt een stevige start.
1. Sufficient numbers of institutions (and K-12 systems) have joined AAEEBL, and sufficient numbers of vendors have contributed, that we are now confident AAEEBL will continue to grow and to influence the enculturation of portfolio thinking and practices into education around the world, in partnership with many other existing organizations and initiatives.
2. The special introductory offer of $200 US for institutional membership expires as of September 30, 2009. If your institution has been considering joining but has not yet completed the process, please be sure to do so before the end of September. You can find the necessary forms at http://www.aaeebl.org/page/Membership. After September 30, dues will increase to $600/institution. Individual memberships will also be introduced at that point.
3. The first annual AAEEBL conference is July 27-29, 2010 in Boston:
The World ePortfolio Summit. Registration is $690 US. The first three registrants from a member institution get a $100 US discount from the full cost of registration. This conference will be co-located with Campus Technology (but it is a separate conference), will share the exhibit hall, is co-hosted by The Association of American Colleges and Universities (www.aacu.org) and by NERCOMP, the northeast regional organization of EDUCAUSE. We expect 800 attendees from around the world.
A Program Committee will be formed shortly and information about the conference will appear on our Website in September. Our goal is to have representatives from all ePortfolio vendors at this Summit, many of whom will be co-presenting with an academic.
4. AAEEBL is launching the IDEA Initiative this fall (Improving Data for Elearning and Assessment). See http://campustechnology.com/articles/2009/08/19/the-right-data-for-eportfolios.aspx for a bit more about this initiative.
5. AAEEBL regional chapters are actively forming in New England and in the Southeast, both of which will have regional conferences this coming academic year. Chapters are under discussion in the UK, Rocky Mountains, the Midwest, Northwest, and Australasia.
